This year, I would like to see everyone come together to make CCALP bigger and better.
CCALP is YOUR chapter, let’s work together to make it better. The more members we have
who become active in CCALP, the better CCALP will be. I would like to hear your ideas
(speakers, charities, etc.), your thoughts, your concerns. As your president, my first priority
is to you, our members. If I do not hear from you, I have no way of knowing what you want
as a CCALP member.
I would like to see each of you promote our tri-level organization - NALS, TALP, and
CCALP. This year we have four local members serving on TALP Committees – Kathie Jean
Keys is the TALP Parliamentarian, Sheryl Mann is on the Certification Committee, Karen
Moss is on the Education Committee, and I am the State Membership Chair. This makes me
very proud.
CCALP has a great group of leaders this year and with the help of you, our membership,
we can all succeed. This being said, I challenge each of you to do the following:
TO ENGAGE: TO ENGAGE means to occupy, attract, or involve someone’s interest or
attention, become involved. If you become involved in your chapter, it will encourage others
to become involved. Be a committee chair or co-chair. If you get ENGAGED, others will see
you as a leader and will come to you for encouragement. Participate with your chapter in
community service events, social events, etc. Help your chapter operate to its fullest
potential.
TO INSPIRE: TO INSPIRE means you fill someone with the urge or ability to feel something
or do something. Inspire others by helping them to believe in themselves. If someone
believes, then they CAN achieve. Talk to fellow members and inspire them to accomplish
their goals. Inspire them to become involved in your chapter by being a leader yourself. I
was inspired by some of our members in 2007 to be the Secretary for CCALP. If they had
not urged me to do this, I would have never BELIEVED that I COULD do it. Now, because of
their inspiration, I am your President. Thank you ladies for inspiring me!
TO ENHANCE: TO ENHANCE means to intensify, increase, or further improve the quality
value or extent of something or someone. I want to inspire you to enhance your abilities this
year. NALS offers multiple online education webinars, participate in them. I encourage you
to enhance yourself, look beyond the subject of the education opportunity. Try not to trap
yourself into thinking if the subject is not in an area of law in which you are currently
employed, it will not benefit you. Any education is beneficial. I further encourage each of
you to enhance your career by becoming certified. Sit for the ALS, PLS, and/or PP exam. It
is a wonderful achievement and just makes you feel good about yourself. Becoming more
educated and/or certified will also show your employer that you want to improve your quality
as an employee.
TO PROMOTE: TO PROMOTE means to further the progress of; support or actively
encourage; give publicity to; public awareness. Promote your chapter. Talk to the public
about NALS, TALP, and CCALP. Let the public know what this tri-level organization is all
about. Talk to your boss about what we do, let them know what CCALP is all about. Talk to
other legal professionals who may not be members. Invite them to be a guest at one of our
meetings. BOOST and PROMOTE your chapter.
ENGAGE someone’s interest. INSPIRE others to achieve. ENHANCE your abilities.
PROMOTE NALS, TALP & CCALP.
